Delaware Police Seek Attempted Luring Suspect

NEWARK, Del. (CBS) – Police in Newark are investigating the report of an attempted luring of a 14-year-old girl.

On November 30, shortly before 5 p.m., the alleged victim was walking on Dallas Avenue near the intersection of Apple Road when she was approached by a black male in a white van.

According to the victim, the man asked her if she needed and ride and when she refused, he told her to "get in."

Police say, the young girl ran away from the area and the suspect fled, last seen in the area of Dallas Avenue and Elkton Road.

The van is described as an older style, white work van with no rear or side windows. It's said to have dirty tires and a rusted dent on the lower rear passenger side.

The driver is described to police as a black male, between 30 and 50 years, with little hair on his head, a thin scruffy beard and multiple tattoos on his neck. The victim said he was wearing heavy cologne and smoking a cigar.
