Rep. Andrews To Refund $10,000 To His Campaign

TRENTON, N.J. (CBS) -- South Jersey Congressman Rob Andrews will refund nearly $10,000 to his campaign, after questions were raised about the use of that money.

Andrews, through a spokesman, declined to be interviewed, but issued a statement regarding reports that he used campaign money to attend the wedding of a donor and volunteer adviser in Scotland, that reportedly included three nights in a five star hotel in Edinburgh.

The statement does not identify the donor, and Andrews insists there was nothing illegal, but that those personal aspects of the trip came out of his own pocket. But given the heat he's been taking lately, he's decided to pay for the whole bill.

The $10,000 will be directed, through his campaign, to the Delaware Valley chapter of Volunteers of America. The congressman hopes this action will permit him to "focus on issues important to our community and nation."
