Philadelphia Police Find $500,000 Hidden In Car

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Police in Philadelphia say they found $500,000 in a secret compartment of a car pulled over for running a red light.

Authorities say the unidentified driver fled the scene when police stopped the silver sport-utility vehicle on Thursday in north Philadelphia.

Police searched the car and found stacks of cash hidden in a compartment in the trunk.

Tasha Jamerson, a spokeswoman for the district attorney’s office, says authorities believe the money and vehicle were being used for illegal drug activity.

No arrests have been made.

That happened to a friend of mine. He purchased his FORMER car from the City Auction down on Delaware Ave. and it was an Infinity Q45. What he didn’t know was, that was the car of choice for the drug dealers. And, yep, you guessed it. There was a compartment in the trunk, loaded with drugs when the cops confiscated it. Fortunately, he didn’t get into any trouble because the cops didn’t throughly check the vehicle before selling it. Needless to say, he didn’t get his CURRENT vehicle from the City Auction.
