Life-Long Educator Dr. Jill Biden Speaks At 4th Annual AIM For The Stars Gala

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Academy In Manayunk hosted its fourth annual AIM for the Stars Gala.

The goal of the event was to promote literacy for students who learn differently due to learning disabilities, such as dyslexia.

Second Lady of the United States and life-long educator, Dr. Jill Biden spoke to the nearly 400 guests about the importance of giving children a chance to shine:

"There is no greater feeling than when a student grasps a concept that I am trying to explain. I see them get it and I know that in addition to the knowledge, I am giving them confidence in their abilities."

The celebration honored Philip Schultz, a Pulitzer Prize-winning poet and Tracy Johnson, who was featured in an HBO documentary. Both worked to overcome learning disabilities to achieve their success. Former Governor Ed Rendell and Mayor Michael Nutter also gave remarks.
