Tree Topples On Berks County Home, Killing Elderly Man
TEMPLE, Pa. (CBS) - An elderly man was killed Saturday afternoon after a tree, covered in snow, fell though his Berks County home, according to police.
The accident happened at about 2:20 p.m. in the unit block of Skyline Drive in Temple.
Police said Charles Loder, 84, was sleeping when a large tree covered with snow fell on top of the home, striking the man and killing him instantly.
Investigators declared the cause of death to be massive blunt force trauma. It took rescue crews two hours to safely remove the victim as trees were falling in the area of the incident.
