PATERSON, N.J. (AP) – New Jersey Gov. Christie and his lieutenant governor are playing it coy as speculation swirls over whether Christie will seek the GOP nomination for 2012 presidential election.
At the swearing-in of Superior Court Judge Donna Galluccio in Paterson on Monday, Christie joked about coming to the ceremony “a little preoccupied.”
The governor joked about people who tend to “blow smoke” at the powerful and being intoxicated by that smoke.
Besides the swearing in, where the press had no close access to him, he had no public events and has none scheduled for tomorrow.
At a business in Rutherford, Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno shied away from answering questions, saying she had nothing to add to the speculation.
She said she was ready to serve as governor, as she is every day.
