Police: Delaware Teen Shot 2 Over Stolen Bike Dispute

DOVER, Del. (CBS) – Police in Delaware have arrested a 16-year-old suspect in connection with a double shooting after a dispute over a bike.

Investigators said Jaquell McDonald, 16, was arrested Monday for his alleged role in the shooting that occurred on September 19th.

The double shooting happened at about 5 p.m. at the Autumn Run Apartments on Webbs Lane in Dover.

According to investigators, the incident began as an argument between McDonald and a 27-year-old male and a 26-year-old female over the male victim's bike. Police say the bike had been stolen on an earlier date.

Police say during the argument, McDonald allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot both victims. The male victim suffered a gunshot wound to his foot. He was taken to Kent General Hospital where he was treated for his injury. The female victim suffered a graze wound to her knee, but she refused treatment.

McDonald fled the scene but was taken into custody a week later. He has been charged with two counts of attempted murder in the first degree, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, carrying a concealed deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a person prohibited.

He is being held at the Stevenson House Juvenile Detention Facility on $52,000 secured bail.
