Proposed Plan to Toll Route 422 Presented In Royersford Tuesday Night

ROYERSFORD (CBS) - Area residents will get a chance Tuesday night to voice their opinions about a plan to put tolls on Route 422.

The Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission has presented a plan to toll the expressway to pay for badly needed repairs but area lawmakers say their phones are ringing off the hook from motorists who are opposed to the idea.

So, Tuesday night at Pope John Paul High School in Royersford, the DVRPC will present its plan at a forum and hear from the public. State Representative Mike Vereb is against tolls.

"Right now, I mean I'm against it. I've been against it and there's one reason; I think it's tyranny to zip code. Where was all the money to fix 422 when 309 and other roads east of 202 were fixed?" Vereb said.

He says all four legislators on the panel are opposed to the tolls but they want to hear what their constituents have to say after he says the facts are put on the table. The forum gets underway at seven.
