PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Labor Day is one of those holidays that many people face with mixed emotion. On one hand it is an opportunity to get together with friends and family and celebrate. Usually the weather is pretty good and for those with a three day weekend, it is a good chance to focus on the message of the holiday and have some fun. But the downside is obvious. Before we know it the weather will be changing and we will be driving home in the dark in the early evening.

There are also those who might say, “Another summer gone and I still have not lost those extra pounds.” This is where I have some good news. If you really think about it, the emergence of cooler weather makes it easier to go outside and walk, jog or bike. The fear of squeezing into a bathing suit is gone so that you can lose weight the best way — over a gradual period of time. We all know that crash diets don’t work.

Just some reasons to be optimistic.
