EAST NORRITON, Pa. (CBS) – Five people were injured after a car driven by an elderly driver crashed into a fast food restaurant in Montgomery County Wednesday afternoon.
The accident happened at about 12:40 p.m. at the Taco Bell located on DeKalb Pike in East Norriton.
According to officials, an elderly driver was backing out of his parking spot when he rear-ended another car. In a panic, the man reportedly stepped on the accelerator and slammed into a glass window of the restaurant.
Crews worked for nearly an hour to remove a female who was trapped under the car inside the restaurant. That woman and another person were air-lifted to an area hospital for treatment.
Three others, including the driver, were also injured and were taken to Mercy Suburban Hospital.
It was not immediately known if charges would be filed against the driver.
