Somers Point Bridal Shop Owner Denies Anti-Lesbian Claim

SOMERS POINT, N.J. (CBS) - A Somers Point bridal shop is getting national attention after its owner declined to do business with a lesbian bride.

The owner of "Here Comes the Bride," who wants to be known only as Donna, says she's been inundated with calls since a Daily News column in which bride-to-be Alix Genter claimed Donna refused to sell her a dress because she's marrying another woman.

Donna declined to talk on tape but denies that's the reason. She says it's because Genter was difficult and abusive. According to Donna, she mentioned to Genter that she noticed she'd crossed out groom and wrote "partner" on a store form and Genter exploded and started cursing.

Genter says she doesn't want to talk about it anymore but she told the Daily News that Donna told her that her marriage would be illegal. Donna says she knows civil unions are legal in New Jersey and that she has dressed other lesbian brides.
