Police Search For Man Who Tried To Firebomb FOP Building

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police are hunting for a man who tried to firebomb the Philadelphia FOP at Broad and Spring Garden Streets just before dawn. There was no fire damage and no injuries.

Police say an unidentified man threw a brick through a front door window at the Fraternal Order of Police building just after 5 a.m. After breaking the window, the same man threw a molotov cocktail (a bottle with flammable fluid) through the broken window, but the flaming bottle extinguished itself before landing inside the building.

The fire marshal is investigating and, along with police, is interviewing two witnesses.

A spokesman for Central Detective Division says no one was hurt and there was no fire damage.

If you’re going to act like a gang and protect the bad cops like the FOP aggressively does then you shouldn’t be too surprised when you’re given gang like tactics in return. And NO I’m NOT condoning this stupidity. I’m just saying that police really need to clean up their act or else they’ll probably be seeing more of this type of thing in the future. People need to feel safe to file complaints without fear of retaliation from fellow “officers”.

Sorry Michael Kelly, but I can’t let you print a bold faced lie without challenging it. You are wrong on your account that “the [only] people who have problems with cops are people who are problems to the cops.” Years ago I was being harassed by a cop and when he finally got caught I had his brothers in blue begin a campaign to start harassing me with dirty looks, intimidation, etc. There are a lot of bad cops out there, and they are likely the reason for this violence. I hope they catch whoever did this, as this type of senseless, random violence never accomplishes anything good.

The violence has been growing on the streets for the last couple years. But only in Center City is it taken seriously. The loss of revenue from the tourist; and the police presences is upped. Same as a few yrs. back, shootings etc., but then it happened to the police; then it was jumped on. The police can’t expect to be immune to these jackels. If we bleed so will the police; no answers, just be prayed up.

the people who have problems with cops are people who are problems to the cops. normal people who are law abiding people never seem to have any problems. why ? then they blame the cops for their unlawful actions. like the kid in chester who had a stolen gun. then his family will get on tv and say ‘he was a good boy” yeah right. they all know who the thugs are and they like knowing them. reap what you sow !

Gee, now who has a gripe with the cops?

  • Mark Matis

It’s a shame he didn’t succeed. The Philly pigs won’t bother to honor their oath of office to the Constitution.

yeah i hear rush talking a lot about violence daily. we are so mean spirited. Not!!! We don’t do this, Obamas friends like Bill Airs, the guy who actually blew up the pentagon. Maybe he should stop listening to CNN and MSNBC.
