Slain Freemansburg Police Officer Robert Lasso
FREEMANSBURG, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania police officer killed in the line of duty last week is being remembered as a great cop and devoted father.
Private and public funeral services were held Tuesday for Freemansburg police Officer Robert Lasso.
The Rev. Richard Teitsworth says the 31-year-old married father of two “gave the supreme sacrifice” and that his life was represented by the law enforcement motto “protect and serve.”
Lasso was shot in the head while investigating a domestic disturbance report. Forty-six-year-old George Hitcho Jr. is charged in his death.
Hitcho allegedly fired on Lasso after the officer pointed a stun gun at the suspect’s dogs. Hitcho is being held without bail at Northampton County Prison.
