PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A Philadelphia event highlighting the city’s fashion industry takes place next month.

Philadelphia ushers in the second annual “Philadelphia Collection,” September 12th through 24th.

“The Philadelphia Collection is an opportunity for Philadelphia to show its fashion side,” says city representative Melanie Johnson (at right in photo).  And she says this year’s event will be a lot grander than last year’s.

“We have over 100 events that include fashion shows independently produced, about four or five different panels, someone blogging on ethical fashion.  We also have a premiere of ‘The Tents,’ which is about New York’s Fashion Week.”

Co-producer Michelle Shannon (at left in photo) listed some of her favorite events on the docket:

“The Nicole Miller 19 Best Dressed Women at XIX, Fashion Fest, and the Fashion Lab.”
