Pennsylvania Kids Name Two Furry New Additions To The Corbett Family

HARRISBURG, Pa. (CBS) - Okay, Pennsylvania: get ready to meet Penny and Harry, your newly christened First Puppies.

Governor Tom Corbett and First Lady Susan Corbett have announced the winners of a contest which saw school children from across the state offer suggestions for the names of their two new Airedale puppies, a brother and sister from the same litter.

The winning name for the male pup: "Harry" for "Harrisburg" and for the female, "Penny" for Pennsylvania. Susan Corbett says the little critters are already making their mark – and no, we don't mean that kind of mark – on the governor's residence.

"This is a beautiful house," she said. "But I think having kids or dogs makes it a home. So there is a noticeable difference already in the residence."

Some of the runners-up in the name competition:  the lawman/outlaw tandem of Wyatt and Josie, and Coco and Reese because of the capitol's proximity to Hershey.

Four dozen kids submitted one or both of the winning names and each will get an autographed photo of the Corbetts and the dogs.
