Philadelphia Museum Of Art To Share Famous Garber Painting With Michener Museum In Bucks

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A gift to the Philadelphia Museum of Art will directly benefit the James Michener Museum in Bucks County.

According to the terms of the gift by Philadelphia philanthropists Marguerite and Gerry Lenfest, Tanis, the 1915 painting by Daniel Garber, will be on loan to the Michener Art Museum for three months, every three years.

Michener Art Museum director and CEO Bruce Katsiff says it's a wonderful and fitting gift.

"It's a remarkable portrait of his young daughter as she stands in a doorway with sunlight streaming through. And it complements our very strong holdings in the Pennsylvania Impressionists."

Tanis will be on view October through April at the Michener as part of the exhibit, "The Painterly Voice: Bucks County's Fertile Ground".
