Turn Off The Heat!

It's Saturday morning, and I just finished my two hour show on Sportsradio 610 WIP. An interesting discussion stemmed from the show. Today's weather provides a different challenge than last night's game. Today is a day game.

The Phillies are scheduled to play at 4pm today. As a matter of fact, I'll be hosting "Inside Pitch" on the concourse behind Section 123 at 3 p.m. today, and the temperature at game time could be over 100 degrees. Major League Baseball should consider delaying the start time of that game to the evening, at least when the sun goes down.

There are a bunch of reasons why this won't happen. The evening is going to be packed, considering the soccer game at the Linc and Rihanna concert at the Wells Fargo Arena. Understandable, but still—inconvenience is not a reason to play in the extreme heat.

FOX Television is also a reason MLB won't consider this. The Phillies are their national game, and TV rules the world. That being said, I hope the fans stay indoors and give FOX their much needed ratings. Is American Idol back yet?

Lastly, let's recall the Eagles game that was postponed due to a winter storm just a few months ago. The NFL stepped in because the government warned people to stay out of the elements. Isn't this the same thing?

I discussed this on Twitter (@Seth_Everett) & Facebook, as well as on the radio. Remember, I'll be on "Inside Pitch" live from the steamy concourse at 3 p.m. for Talkradio 1210 WPHT.
