New Jersey Pair Charged After Getting Locked Inside Constable's Car In Radnor

RADNOR, Pa. (CBS) - Radnor police say a pair of young men were three sheets to the wind when they inadvertently locked themselves inside a Pennsylvania state constable's police van.

Radnor (Montgomery County) state constable Mike Connor says he was sound asleep at about 4 a.m. Saturday when he received a call from police saying two drunks were locked in his van on East Lancaster Avenue.

"While they were sitting in there, they tried to break their way out of the van by kicking the slider door," he told KYW Newsradio. "Came down to the van and the police were there. Unlocked the slider door and dumb and dumber popped out."

Connor says the men had been at a nearby party and thought it would be a good idea to go into the van to take pictures. A third person shut the door on them. They couldn't unlock the door from the inside and the friend couldn't open it from the outside.

The pair left inside the van are identified as 22-year-old Jeffery Olson and 21-year-old Ryan Letchford, both of Marlton, New Jersey. They now face numerous charges, including public drunkenness, criminal mischief and attempt to commit theft from a motor vehicle.
