KYW Newsradio's Women's Achievement Awards Honors Five Exceptional Leaders

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Five exceptional Philadelphia area women were honored Wednesday night at KYW Newsradio's annual Women's Achievement Awards.

A panel of seven women, accomplished in their own right, chose the winners.  Rosemary Caliguiri,  of Harvest Group financial services, was one of the judges.

"We looked at the impact on the community, we looked at the journey that individual had to go to get to the place of their own personal achievement and then what that achievement was able to bring to the community," she said.

Chris Kirchner (at lectern in photo) is one such woman. She's the executive director of Philadelphia Children's Alliance, which helps young sexual abuse victims.

"In Philadelphia there are 130 reports (of child sex abuse) a month, so there are a lot of kids who need to be interviewed about a very sensitive topic," she said, "so we try to make that whole process as non-traumatic and supportive as possible."

Other winners include Dr. Tyra Bryant-Stephens of the Community Asthma Prevention Program, Liz Scott of Alex's Lemonade Stand, Judy Persichilli of Catholic Health East, and Leslie Stiles of the Pennsylvania Conference for Women.
