Independence Blast! Along The Delaware River Waterfront

CAMDEN, N.J. – Beginning on Saturday, July 2, 2011, the Camden and Philadelphia Waterfronts will host Independence Blast!, a three-day-long festival packed with multiple special events to help kick-off Independence Day celebrations along the Delaware River Waterfront. Independence Blast! Weekend on the Waterfront will be the centerpiece of the season, celebrating the patriotic Independence Weekend in two cities that share one waterfront.

Independence Blast! is open to the public, and the main event -- a synchronized fireworks display from Camden and Philadelphia -- will take place on Saturday at 9:30 p.m.

Some key events for the weekend include:

Saturday, July 2:

A free military-themed concert in Wiggins Waterfront Park featuring patriotic shows by the Air National Guard Band of the Mid-Atlantic at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

The SUPER SCOOPER ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT ICE CREAM FESTIVAL at Penn's Landing benefits the Joshua Kahan Fund as it continues its mission to "lick Leukemia!" The 13th annual All-You-Can-Eat Ice Cream Festival will be held from Saturday July 2nd from Noon to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Indulge your sweet tooth for ONLY $7.00 per person, while supporting a worthy cause. Enjoy FIREWORKS on the Delaware River at 9:30 p.m. with Two Cities, One Waterfront Fireworks – a spectacular display synchronized by Camden and Philadelphia. Wiggins Waterfront Park in Camden provides a free, family-friendly atmosphere to watch pyrotechnics launched from barges in the middle of the river. With a $10 donation, enjoy the fireworks from the Battleship New Jersey and have access to some of the best views, live music and entertainment, food and bar and concessions. A patriotic soundtrack will accompany this choreographed fireworks display, which will be simulcast on KYW Newsradio 1060 and amplified for everyone's enjoyment along the Camden Waterfront.

Sunday, July 3:

Fam Jams expands to Wiggins Park in Camden with free family activities, including face painting, inflatable rides, concessions, and a children's concert featuring the Dirty Sock Funtime Band, who frequently appear on Nick, Jr.

Don't forget to stop by other Camden attractions on Saturday and Sunday, like the Adventure Aquarium and the Battleship New Jersey, both open 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m., or the Camden Children's Garden, which is open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Monday, July 4:

The Adventure Aquarium will be open from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m., and the Battleship New Jersey will be open from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
