Former Manager At A Montco Country Club Gets Jail Time For Embezzlement

PENNSBURG, Pa. (CBS) - The former banquet manager of a Montgomery County, Pa. country club is headed to state prison for at least a year for stealing more than $130,000 from clients -- many of them brides-to-be -- who booked the facility for their parties.

Prosecutors say Anthony Sisonick took deposits from more than 40 clients but, instead of putting that money in the Sweet Water Country Club's account, he used some of it to fuel his gambling addiction.

Now, the 40-year-old Easton, Pa. man has been sentenced to one to two years in state prison followed by five years' probation.

Country club owner Joan Kolonia says the thefts nearly bankrupted the Pennsburg facility but they have been able to recover.

"It's been a lot of hard work and a lot of disappointment, but we've been able to put through," she told KYW Newsradio today. "We're a family owned and operated business, so we've all pulled together and assured everybody that we are still in business."

Prosecutors say Sisonick even collected unemployment after he was fired when the thefts were uncovered.

He apologized in court and told the judge he takes full responsibility for his actions.
