PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Philadelphia Soul, 5-8, are home tonight, hosting the Tulsa Talons, 5-7.
And the Soul are making a quarterback change, as Brandon Kirsch will take over for Ryan Vena under center in this one.
“He knows the system,” says Soul head coach Mike Hohensee of his new starter. “Hopefully he’ll make better decisions (than Vena). The decisionmaking (at quarterback) has been the tough part for us. When we’ve had some leads or making a comeback like last week (in a 75-54 loss to Spokane), we just have done things with the football that we shouldn’t. He’s good with his feet and he throws a little tighter ball than the last two guys — gets the ball in and out of his hands.”

Kirsch last played in the Arena Football League for the Colorado Crush, in 2007-08.
Tulsa has a familiar face to Soul fans at quarterback. Their starter is Justin Allgood, who began the season as the Soul starter before being traded to the Talons.
What does Hohensee (right) think his team needs to do to pick up a win in this one?
“We’ve got to get some turnovers,” he says. “We’ve got to stall their offense, don’t let them have any success on that side of the ball. Offensively, we’ve got to take care of the football, we’ve got to take care of our quarterback with protection, and our quarterback has to make sure we don’t give them any easy turnovers.”
Kickoff is set for 7:05pm tonight at the Wells Fargo Center.
