'6th Annual Great Chefs Event' Raises Money For Pediatric Cancer

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Chefs from all over the world got together to raise money for pediatric cancer research.

The 6th annual Great Chefs event took place at the Navy Yard in South Philadelphia to benefit the Alex's Lemonade Stand foundation.

"Our goal last year was a half a million. Every year we've doubled. So we started with about $30,000, worked up from there," said Jeff Benjamin, founder of the Vetri Foundation for children as well as Great Chefs.

This year, they hope to raise a million dollars for pediatric cancer research:

"About 7 years ago I actually called Alex's parents, Liz and Jay Scott out of the blue and said, we'd like to do some charitable work. We love what you guys are doing. We love that you keep it local but you also have a global effect and they said great. After about 2 hours we became friends and the rest if history."
