Man In Critical Condition After Gun Fight With Police In North Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Investigators say a break-in led to a police-involved shooting in North Philadelphia late Thursday evening.

Police were called to a home near 15th Street and Indiana Avenue in the city's Hunting Park section around 11 p.m.

According to police, a suspect broke into his ex-girlfriend's home and when she called police, the suspect fled the home.

Police then spotted a man that matched the suspect's description and instructed him to stop.

Investigators say the suspect then pulled a gun and began opening fire on police. Officers returned fire and struck the suspect at least three times.

The suspect was taken to Temple University Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

No officers were injured in the shootout. Police Internal Affairs is investigating the incident.
