PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The KYW Philly Soccer Show is back for another week. KYW’s Greg Orlandini and Philly Soccer Page writer Eli Pearlman-Storch have a special guest this week.
Grant Wahl, senior writer with Sports Illustrated and onetime FIFA presidential candidate joins the program. Grant is one of the top soccer writers in America, and he shares his insight into the game.
In part one, Greg, Eli, and Grant look at the US National team. USA downed Canada 2-0 in Detroit in the opening round of the CONCACAF Gold Cup. We talk about the team’s roster and their likely showdown with rivals Mexico later in the tournament.
Part 1:
In part two, Greg, Eli and Grant talk MLS and Union. Also, we talk with Grant about his time as a candidate for FIFA president. Grant’s run helped raise awareness about some of the problems plaguing the game’s governing body, including its allegations of corruption and lack of transparency.
Part 2:
In part three, Greg and Eli break down the Union’s hard-fought draw against the Colorado Rapids. Philadelphia walked away from a very physical bout against the MLS champs on Saturday with a 1-1 draw.
Part 3:
In part four, Greg and Eli look at the upcoming MLS transfer window, preview this Saturday’s Union match against Real Salt Lake, and find out where former Union defender Michael Orozco-Fiscal has been hiding.
