Tests Confirm Beaver Killed Along Pennypack Creek Is Positive For Rabies
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Tests have confirmed that a beaver killed along Pennypack Creek in Northeast Philadelphia is positive for rabies.
The beaver, which bit three people on Wednesday and Thursday, has tested positive for rabies and Pennsylvania Game Commission spokesman Jerry Feaser says it's still a good idea to avoid the waterfront area of the Pennypack Creek between Bustleton Avenue and the Boulevard until further notice.

"We're not aware of any others being reported at this time, but again, rabies is a disease. If there's one in the area, there could very well be additional victims. So again, we're going to continue to monitor that area, and we would encourage the residents in that area, if they see anything suspicious, don't hesitate."
Feaser says don't hesitate to call police or the Game Commission's southeast regional office at 610-926-3136.
