Philadelphia Attorney Gets 5 Years For Part In Marijuana-Growing Operation

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A Philadelphia attorney has been sentenced to five years in prison for his role in a Northern Liberties marijuana-growing operation that produced hundreds of pounds of high quality product for sale in the area.

Federal Prosecutor Joseph Labrum says attorney Richard Creamer purchased the North American Street warehouse where the ring operated.

"His arrangement with the other leader of the operation, James Alberts, was that he would get somewhere in the neighborhood of 30-35% of the monthly marijuana harvest, and they were harvesting about once every 30 days, generating anywhere from 15 to 22 pounds of high grade marijuana," Labrun says.

The marijuana sold on the street for about $5-thousand a pound. Labrum says 12 other defendants all pleaded guilty.
