SEA ISLE CITY, N.J. (CBS) - Today is the start of a long Memorial Day weekend, which is the kickoff to the shore season.

Ty and Jeanne Rohloff of West Deptford started their day with a nice walk on the beach.

“Oh it’s wonderful out here … God it’s beautiful. We came out to watch the sun come up, you know, right along the beach there. Just walking along, enjoying the wind in your hair.”

High gas prices aren’t keeping them away from the Jersey Shore.

The chamber of commerce types say the economic indicators, like advanced rentals, hotels, and beach tag sales are looking up compared to last year.
