Michael Vick Tabbed As Commencement Speaker For Philadelphia Alternative Schools

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It is not often that ex-cons are selected to be high school commencement speakers, but a group of Philadelphia alternative schools believe Michael Vick is the right choice.

The story of Michael Vick is a narrative of redemption that CEO Todd Bock believes will resonate with the 447 graduates of Philadelphia's five Camelot alternative schools.

Vick's NFL career was derailed when he served a year and a half of federal time for his role in a dog fighting ring.  Bock says the kids in Camelot schools will no doubt see themselves in Vick's address.

"Michael Vick has really kind of epitomized a person that has made some very serious mistakes and has shown a lot of resilience in perseverance to battle back from those," Bock said.

Graduation is in June at the Kimmel Center, but Bock wouldn't say precisely when, so as not to tip off any possible protesters.
