PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Dr. Phil McGraw, whose career in talk was launched on The Oprah Winfrey Show, will move to the 4 p.m. timeslot in Philadelphia after Oprah broadcasts her last show at 4 p.m. on May 25th .

Beginning May 26th, Dr. Phil moves from 5 p.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays on CBS 3. Eyewitness News at 4, anchored by Chris May and Susan Barnett, will shift to 5 p.m. as part of the programming change. This competitive move will make Dr. Phil the only choice for talk at 4 p.m. in the market.

“Dr. Phil is the perfect choice for the time period since he is already familiar to Oprah viewers,” says President and General Manager Jon Hitchcock. “At the same time, moving our local newscast to 5 p.m. gives CBS 3 a 90-minute local news block at a time when the largest audience of news viewers is available to see it.”

Dr. Phil has aired on CBS 3 in Philadelphia since its 2002 launch. The show also airs on sister station The CW Philly at 6 a.m. weekdays. Since the show’s launch, Dr. Phil has visited the city on numerous occasions, including conducting a workshop here in 2003, and broadcasting his show from the City in 2009.

CBS 3 (KYW-TV) and The CW Philly 57 (WPSG-TV) are part of CBS Television Stations, a division of CBS Corporation.
