BRYN MAWR, Pa. (CBS) — The men behind the Peace of Pizza phenomenon are taking advantage of a growing trend of people baking their own pizza at home by opening a new store in Bryn Mawr. On Saturday, they’re celebrating that opening with a family fun day to benefit a local charity.
Bake 425 is billed as the Main Line’s first ever organic pizza kitchen, where customers can pick up fresh pizzas that are cooked in their own ovens. Peter Howey and his business partner, Aaron Nocks, say that last year was the first year that pizzas cooked at home surpassed those sold at pizzerias.
Howey says their mission at Bake 425 is to offer fresh food in a family-centric environment. “Taking a pizza home, baking it at home with your family, and the whole idea of kind of bringing the family back to the dinner table…people spend thousands of dollars to build these beautiful kitchens and never use them,” he says.
As part of the Bake 425 launch, Howey and Nocks are partnering with Acting Without Boundaries and helping to raise money for the year-round theater program for children, teens and young adults with physical disabilities.
