Law Week Offers Philadelphians Free Time With An Attorney

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Law Week begins Monday and one of its standard offerings is a way for you to get some time with a lawyer for free.

Legal Advice Live! is Monday between noon and 2 p.m. at four branches of the Free Library, Central, Rodriguez, Haverford and Donatucci. Carey Chopko, chair of the Young Lawyers group of the Philadelphia Bar Association, says attorneys will be available with expertise in such areas as medical malpractice, trusts and estates, and bankruptcy.

For the first time, some attorneys at the Rodriguez branch will speak Spanish. Chopko has been on the receiving end of questions.

"It was unique as an attorney to realize that there are many folks out there that perhaps feel a little uncertain about approaching an attorney in the first place. I think Legal Advice Live! provides a perfect opportunity where people can throw out a question that the might not have otherwise been asked."

And if it is a legal issue, get a referral to do something about it.
