Plane Reporting Smoke In Cockpit Lands In Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Officials at Philadelphia International Airport say a plane diverted from New York to Philadelphia reported smoke in the cockpit, but landed safely and there were no injuries.

Airport spokeswoman Victoria Lupica says the Delta flight from Orlando, Fla., was heading to JFK Airport with 158 passengers on Tuesday night when it was diverted to Philadelphia due to the weather.

She says smoke was reported in the cockpit, but the aircraft landed safely, was checked out by fire personnel and then taxied to the gate without incident.

Lupica says there were no injuries and the plane was secured.

A Delta representative did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
