PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The first ever Philadelphia Science Festival kicks off tonight with 14 days of celebrating science.
The Philadelphia Science Festival officially kicks off tonight with the official naming of its specially brewed Belgian ale. A huge carnival on the Parkway Saturday and events, mostly free, celebrating science for the next 14 days.
Katie Hunt is with Dow Chemical, which is organizing a number of neighborhood events.
“Really it’s about engaging not just our minds but our hearts.”
You can examine the stars, solve a mystery with forensics, examine a dancing flower or discover the sweet spot on a baseball bat.
Gerri Tooskin is the festival director.
“People when they heard that we’re doing a science of chocolate or a science of cheese or a science of beer, they say ‘whoa, that is awesome, I can’t wait.’”
