Officials: Laptops Stolen From Albright College Contained Personal Information

READING, Pa. (AP) -- Officials at an eastern Pennsylvania college say two computers recently stolen from the financial aid office contained personal information on 10,000 current, former and prospective students.

Albright College officials said Wednesday that the institution is working with investigators to determine if any of the data is being misused.

Police in Reading say the laptops were stolen from Selwyn Hall in February.

Albright officials say the data included only names and addresses for some students, but also birthdates and Social Security numbers for others. Some spouses and joint account holders were also affected.

Albright spokeswoman Barbara Marshall tells the Reading Eagle that the college is notifying each person and will help with credit monitoring and identity restoration if necessary.
