BLOG: Record Warm Temperatures Possible
Justin Drabick
Here we go again! This will be the second Monday in a row where we have well above average high temperatures. Last Monday we reached 79 degrees in Phila. and missed the record by 1 degree. Let's see if we can get the record this time around. It's going to be another close call. This time of year it is all about the sunshine.
A warm front continues to track northeast and will pass through the Delaware Valley overnight. The warm front is already through Pittsburgh where it is 82 degrees at 6pm and only 61 in Phila. Skies will remain partly to mostly cloudy tonight and tomorrow morning as the front passes.
After the front makes its way through, more sunshine should break out through the day and allow temperatures to surge. Southwest winds transporting the warm air will also begin to kick up and become gusty during the afternoon.
Temperatures will start off in the 50s early in the morning and make it into the lower 80s during the afternoon, possibly the mid 80s if enough sunshine breaks out. The southerly winds will blow over the cold Atlantic Ocean waters, which is currently in the upper 40s and allow shore temperatures to remain cooler in the 60s to near 70.
Check out some of the record high temperatures around the region for tomorrow:
