PHILADELPHIA (AP) – A Philadelphia doctor accused of regularly maiming women and killing viable babies at his filthy abortion clinic should have been reported by other physicians but was not.
A grand jury report says local doctors failed in their legal, professional and ethical duties to tell regulators about Dr. Kermit Gosnell.
At least six women who went to Gosnell for abortions ended up in the emergency rooms of the University of Pennsylvania Health System. They had life-threatening infections and internal injuries; two died.
A health system spokeswoman says Penn doctors did make several verbal reports to the state but only one was written down.
Gosnell was ultimately charged with eight counts of murder in the death of one patient and seven babies. He has not entered a plea.
