2 Killed In Separate Accidents On New Jersey Turnpike

BARRINGTON, NJ (CBS) - Two people were killed in two separate accidents on the New Jersey Turnpike early Tuesday morning.

The first accident happened shortly before 7 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the turnpike in Barrington, Camden County.

According to investigators, a pedestrian died after being struck by a tractor trailer near exit 3. Officials say the right lane in the southbound side is closed, but traffic in the northbound side has not been impacted.

The second accident happened shortly before 9 a.m. in the southbound lanes in Mt. Laurel. Investigators say a driver died after being hit by a tractor trailer near exit 4.

As a result of the second accident, the southbound lanes near exit 4 are closed while one lane of northbound traffic is getting by.

The identities of the victims were not immediately known. The accidents remain under investigation.
