Police Investigate South Philadelphia Robbery, Employee Sexually Assaulted
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police are investigating the daring daytime robbery of the store in which one of the store's employees was duct-taped to a chair and sexually assaulted
According to police an employee of the Dollar General Store in the 6100 block of Woodland Avenue entered the store just after 7 a.m. Monday morning when she was approached by two men wearing masks, one of whom was armed with a handgun. The victim told police she was struck from behind and knocked to the ground before being duct-taped to a chair.
Police also tell Eyewitness News one of the two men allegedly sexually assaulted the female employee before fleeing the store.
The men robbed the store of an undisclosed amount of cash and can been seen in video, obtained exclusively by Eyewitness News, fleeing on foot shortly after the incident.
"For the to happen to that young lady it's crazy," said Diane McMillan. "Everyone in there is very friendly, they're all very nice and friendly people."
Police and the Special Victims Unit are now investigating and looking for more surveillance video to try and identify the men responsible. Police do not know if the two suspects are also linked to a robbery of the Dollar General Store three weeks earlier.
Police have given no description of the suspects.
