PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A social impact company that uses ancient Greek plays to spark discussions on war will give a free performance this afternoon at
1:30 p.m. at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archeology and Anthropology.
Theater of War is an innovative public health project that uses the readings of Sophocles’ plays – Ajax and Philoctetes – to spark discussions about the challenges faced by service members, their families and their communities.
“By using Sophocles’ plays to forge a common vocabulary for openly discussing these difficult issues, these events have the goal of generating compassion and understanding between diverse audiences,” says producer Phyllis Kaufman.
There will be two performances in October and November at People’s Light and Theater Company in Malvern. For more about Theater of War, go to outsidethewirellc.com.
