PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - April is “Jazz Appreciation Month” in Philadelphia, and the city is holding a series of music events at a number of venues around town next month.

The City of Philadelphia wants you to put a little “swing in your spring” with Jazz Appreciation Month, all through April.
At a kickoff news conference today featuring Warren Oree (on bass) and the Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble, city representative Melanie Johnson spoke about just one of the offerings available:
“Residents and citizens coming into the city can enjoy a jazz brunch in one of Philadelphia’s great restaurants and then take a walking tour along the Avenue of the Arts [South Broad Street] to view the bronze plaques that the Philadelphia Music Alliance has installed to honor nine decades — nine decades! — of legendary musicians,” she said.
