Cuisine For A Cause Event To Raise Money For Some Bucks County Women
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A culinary event this Thursday in Doylestown will raise money for Bucks County women to help them further their education and achieve their goals.
Gourmet Getaway Cuisine for a Cause raises money for the Women in Business Scholarship Fund. Some of Bucks County's finest restaurants are teaming with the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce to promote and support local women in need.
The fund provides women who are looking to get back on their feet with the means to further their education. Event Chair Karen McGinn says many of the previous winners were single moms. "They are conscious of the fact that they want to be a great example to their kids, and I sort of feel these women just need a break," she says.
One hundred percent of the scholarship goes directly to the educational institution the winners will attend. The Scholarship Fund has awarded nearly a quarter million dollars since 1983.
