Iran Demands London Olympics Logo Be Scrapped

(CBS) - The Islamic Republic of Iran is demanding the replacement of the logo being used for next year's Olympic Games in London. The Teheran regime says the logo is a replica of the word, "Zion."

According to the London 2012 Organising Committee, the logo (pictured) -- a blocky, abstract arrangement of shapes -- is meant to represent the year the games will be held: 2012.

According to Realite-EU, a London-based media unit that monitors Iran, the logo also resembles a swastika or a sexual act. Realite-EU quoted critics of the logo in Teheran as saying this is a veiled pro-Israeli conspiracy.

The Olympic Committee in London reportedly noted that the logo was introduced four years ago and expressed surprise that the Iranian objections were raised at this time.
