Two Years Later, Still No Break In Murder Of Bucks Attorney

HOLLAND, Pa. (CBS) - Authorities in Bucks County are appealing to the public for help as they continue to try to solve a murder case that's gone cold: the shooting death of an attorney in his office parking lot two years ago.

February 11, 2009, was an unusually warm day with lots of sunshine. It was that morning in the parking lot of his law office on Buck Road in Holland, Pa. that 51-year-old Eric Birnbaum was shot -- execution style, once in the back of the head -- as he arrived for work.

Police say he was talking with a co-worker when a man came up behind him, fired, and ran.

Bucks County prosecutor David Zellis has been working the case ever since and says police are following up all leads -- but so far nothing that's led to a suspect.

"Having spoken to family members, it's heart-wrenching because they too want to see justice done.  But more important, they want to know why," Zellis says.

Police have gone through Birnbaum's cases for a possible link, and there were even thoughts that his murder was a case of mistaken identity.

The assailant was wearing a dark knit cap and sunglasses. There's a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
