Teens Make Videos Promoting Their Favorite Book

CAMDEN, NJ (CBS) - A local library wants teens to make videos promoting their favorite books.

What sounds like a movie trailer is actually a trailer for a new novel, something publishing houses have been doing in recent years to promote their new releases.

Christen Orbanus, teen librarian at the M. Allan Vogelson branch of the Camden County library system, says that gave her an idea.

"I thought this would be a great way of getting teens who like making videos involved. It promotes literacy, it promotes the new technology and it just seemed like a really fun idea," Orbanus says.

She says the project seemed to her like a natural fit.

"I'm hoping it will combine a love of literature and literacy with modern technology. We have a lot of teens in this area who like to make videos. And it just seems a great way to combine everything -- everything that a library stands for, you know, getting teens involved and getting them in the library and promoting reading."

The deadline is March 4th.  For more info, go to camdencounty.com
