Police: Bucks Co. Man Pulled Gun Over Snow Removal

BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) - There's nothing like the weather to make tempers flare — especially when it comes to snow removal. Authorities in Bucks County say it got a bit out of hand Wednesday morning at one apartment complex.

Bensalem Police arrested a man after he allegedly pointed a gun at an employee using a snow blower to remove snow at the Ark Apartments. The victim spoke with Eyewitness News and asked to remain anonymous.

"People get crazy and do crazy things during times of snow."

The victim calls it crazy, police say it was criminal.

Fred Herran, the Director of Public Safety with the Bensalem Police Department said, "Hopefully a judge will look at this and realize some poor guy out there doing his job almost got his head shot off."

The victim explained, "He basically put a gun on my cheek and told me that you're going to un-plow my car now and I said whatever, you want, no problem and he put the gun back in his pocket and walked inside."

"We got there shortly and made an arrest and recovered a 9mm handgun," Herran said.
The gunman, according to police, is 26-year-old Eddie Simmons, a resident of the Ark Apartments who was later arraigned on numerous charges. Eyewitness News learned Simmons pulled his gun after finding his car snowed in.

"Walks up to me and tells me he wants to speak to whoever plowed his car in and I basically said, we're not the plow guys, we're the snow blower guys," the victim said.
According to the victim, what Simmons failed to acknowledge is that he was parked illegally, in an area designated for snow removal during snow storms.

Herran added, "I'm hoping he's sitting in a jail cell, thinking about his actions, it would have been a lot quicker for him to go buy a shovel and remove his car. Most people get annoyed or start yelling and screaming, it's only snow people. God brought it, he'll take it away."

Simmons is being held on $500,000 bail on charges including aggravated assault and making terroristic threats.
