HAMBURG, Pa. (CBS) – Police in Berks County are investigating a shootout between a suspect and police that left the suspect as well as a female victim dead Saturday night.

At about 9 p.m., authorities responded to a report of a domestic disturbance on Chestnut Street in Hamburg. Upon arriving at the scene, a Hamburg Borough police officer reported being fired upon while still in his vehicle, authorities say.

Troopers from the Hamburg Station soon arrived and were also fired upon by the male suspect. None of the officers sustained injuries, but police say the male suspect and female were fatally shot.
