2 Horses Struck, Killed In Pa. After Wandering Off

COATESVILLE, Pa. (AP) -- Two horses are dead after they strayed from a Chester County pasture and were hit by vehicles.

Police in West Brandywine Township got a report of horses running loose in the area of routes 322 and 82 around 4:15 a.m. Thursday.

The Daily Local News of West Chester reports that when officers got to the area, they found two separate crashes involving two horses.

Police say a driver heading westbound on Route 322 struck one horse, fatally injuring the animal.

Around the same time, authorities say a driver in a car hit a different horse, which had to be euthanized.

The rest of the escaped horses were retrieved by their owner.

Neither driver was hurt and no charges are being filed.
