PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – This is the last work day for many before Christmas. For some, keeping focused at work can be a challenge with so much left to do before the holiday.
Michelle Turner of Logan, who works in the food service area for Jefferson University Hospital, said she and her colleagues prepare 600 meals daily.
“I work in the kitchen, so there’s a lot to do there because they’re preparing the dinners for tomorrow — everything is done today for tomorrow and Saturday (Christmas Day),” she said. “I’ll work tomorrow, but I’m off Christmas Day so that’s enough, and then I’ll cook for my family.”
Turner says she’s expecting 12 guests, that’s a lot more manageable than 600. But she says she takes a lot of pride in her work and so do her co-workers. They know that they have a big responsibility for those who are in the hospital. She says it gives them great joy in trying to give them something special even tough they’re in the hospital for the holiday.
