PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The 16th annual Martin Luther King Jr. day of service in Philadelphia, which is the largest of its kind in the nation, will be held January 17th across the region.
The centerpiece of the day of service will be at Girard College but at least 75,000 volunteers are expected to work at over 1,200 community service projects.
Executive director Todd Bernstein said social media will play a larger part than it has in the past.
“There will be people engaged around the region who will be telling their stories via Facebook and Twitter in an effort to really build awareness about the efforts to celebrate Dr. King through citizen action,” said Bernstein.
If you want to register as a volunteer or register a community service project, now’s the time to do it. Call 215-665-2475 or go to mlkdayofservice.org
